Publishing sensitive criminal files online with the Ministry of Justice

The Ministry of Justice has published a major update to their Justonweb platform, enabling the digitization and consultation of court files online. With the court files safely stored in JustConsult (based on IRISNext technology), IRIS IMS assisted the ministry with this project to enable this central online access.

The first judicial files on intra-familial violence, sexual violence, murder and manslaughter have been made digitally available to allow consultation by victims and their families, in a more private setting rather than having to travel to the court registry. In a next step, all court files will be digitized and made available online.

“By making judicial dossiers digitally available, the judiciary has taken yet another step in its transformation. It comes not a moment too soon. In a digital age, it is hard to understand why a government still requires citizens to physically come to the registry to inspect criminal dossiers. Especially when it comes to sensitive cases such as sexual violence, domestic violence or even murder and manslaughter.
Vincent Van Quickenborne, Ministry of Justice

IRIS IMS is proud to be part of this project, part of the long-lasting partnership with the Ministry of Justice, providing little relief to the lives of victims and their relatives.
