Managing Planned Traffic Perturbations with IBM’s Business Automation Workflow at STIB-MIVB

In a 5-minute video, STIB-MIVB will elaborate on their implementation of IBM’s Business Automation Workflow (part of the Cloud Pak for Business Automation), together with IRIS IMS. The application is created as a solution for the complex handling of planned traffic perturbations in Brussels.

STIB-MIVB is a public corporation, entrusted by the Brussels-Capital Region with the operation of public transport on its territory.

In terms of impact of disturbances on the network, STIB-MIVB has around 1.500 disturbances per year involving up to eleven departments involved at each disturbance. It’s a process touching the core business of passenger transportation and mobilises most of the operational teams in three modes: field support, signage and network.

With the help of IBM’s technology and IRIS’ expertise, STIB-MIVB implemented a digital case management solution called ‘CaseMan PPT’. The solution enables full digital control, monitoring and processing of planned events that impact the network of public transportation in Brussels.

This success story is now captured in a video, featuring an interview of Omar Akabi, Project Manager Business Solutions and BU Manager IBM CaseMan/BAW at STIB-MIVB.

We found in IRIS the ideal partner to collaborate with, based on their deep technical knowledge of the IBM Business Automation Workflow platform.

IBM’s Cloud Pak for Business Automation

IBM Cloud Pak for Business Automation is a set of integrated market-leading software designed to help you solve your toughest operational challenges.

With AI-generated recommendations, analytics to measure impact, and business-friendly low-code tooling, it has helped organisations reduce the amount of time spent on manual processes by 90% and decreased customer wait times by half. You can now better comply with regulations to reduce risk and save thousands of work hours that can then be reallocated to higher value work.

Workflow automation

Workflow automation software uses rules-based logic to automate business processes and reduce or eliminate time-consuming tasks. It can be used for tasks with no human interaction or limited human verification, or it can be used for customized, nonrepeatable tasks.

Why automate workflows?

Manual processes can easily disrupt or slow your operations. Lack of transparency and margins of human error can make your business vulnerable to variety of bottlenecks and inefficiencies that can affect your bottom line. By automating your workflows, you can reduce repetitive tasks, increase efficiency and empower your team members to focus on high-value items.
